What types of animals do you pet sit? Puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, fish, turtles, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, iguanas...If you don't see your pet listed here, please call us!
How do I set up services for my pet(s)? The first thing we will do is set up a convenient time for both parties during daylight hours to do a "meet and greet." This typically will last about 30-45 minutes. There is no charge for this meeting. You get to know us and we get to meet you and your pets and decide what services will be best for your situation. We will bring forms for you to complete such as a veterinary release form, service agreement, and pet and client information. If service is contracted, we will also pick up the key. (please make sure any keys you give us work!) If we need to make additional trips to pick up keys or forms we will charge you $17.00.
When do I pay you? First time clients will pay full amount at the meet and greet. Repeat clients leave full payment in the home, to be picked up at the first visit of that petsit. Daily dog walk clients pay each Monday for that week's service.
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept checks, money orders, or cash.
Can you keep my key? Ruff N' Purr will retain your key for future visits. Your key will be kept in a secure location with secret coding. Your name or address will not be kept with your key. If you choose not to keep a key on file with us, you will be charged $17.00 for each key pickup or dropoff.
What if my pet needs medications? We will give your pet oral medications as directed by you. We do not give shots. If you have a very sick or elderly pet we ask that you check with your vet before you use a pet sitter. Your vet may think that boarding in a clinic would be better for that type of pet. For pets on medications, please schedule your meet and greet at medication time so we can see your routine.
What if my pet needs someone to stay overnight? Ruff N' Purr will stay overnight in your home, keeping your pet(s) company from approximately 9pm to 7am. This overnight includes your morning and evening visit. An afternoon visit can be scheduled at your request.
How often will you be coming to take care of my pet? We will decide on the amount of visits that are best for your pet(s) at our meet and greet. We usually do our pet sits between the hours of 7am and 9:30pm. If you request 2 times per day we will do the visits 12 hours apart. (example 8am and 8pm) If you request 3 times per day we will do the visits 7 hours apart. (example, 7am, 2pm, 9pm) and if you request 4 times per day we will do the visits 5 hours apart (example 7am, 11am, 4pm, 9pm).
What do I do when I return from my trip? Please, please, please CALL US when you get home. We really do worry if the pet sit is over and we have not heard from you. We may have to continue coming to your home if you do not contact us. If we come and you are home, we will still charge you for that visit. But if you extend your trip you must call us to make sure we continue visiting your pet. We don't want any pets going unattended for any reason.
My pet is on on a strict schedule, can you accomodate us? We will try to match your pet's schedule as closely as possible. We do not guarantee "exact" times, but your pet's comfort is of utmost importance to us.
Do you work holidays? Definately. But they book up quickly so please call as far in advance as possible. We make reservations on a first come, first served basis. There will be a $5 fee in addition to the regular per visit fee for services on New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve. Holiday bookings must be secured and paid in full at least one week prior to departure. No refunds.
